RAIL STEAM

The most classical use of the steam engine was undoubtably the railway. It was this invention that first enabled the transport and exchange raw materials and goods speedily between two far away locations.
For most people the journey from their village into the next town was the first big travel experience of their life.
Today, it is the railway that offers to many the only opportunity to get in contact with working steam.
The Coblence Steam Spectacle will show normal track and small track engines for you to enjoy.
For instance, two steam engines will power the hourly shuttle train between Coblence main station and Ehrenbreitstein - see Steam Round Trip.
In addition many steam specials from all parts of Germany have already annonced their arrival to this event which will guarantee a lot of exciting moments.
The small track enthusiast will find four 600mm track steam engines running on especially laid Field Tracks.
Even smaller yet are the 300mm and 5" track children steam railways.
You will also experience real steam in scale 1:32 on the Track I Display
in DIEHL´s-HOTEL.
